Medical Requirements

Each student who participates in any sport must provide evidence of a physical examination by a licensed physician in order to satisfy C.I.F. and LHS athletic regulations. Physical examinations are valid for one calendar school year. Physical Packets can be picked up in the Athletic Office from 8 am - 3 p.m.

Medical insurance is required. A copy of your medical insurance card must be on file with your physical packet and with your advisor.

After an injury, which requires medical attention, a release in writing must be obtained from a doctor before a player may resume participation. This is for the protection of the player, coach, and school.

Cheerleading is a sport that requires commitment, athleticism and a great spirit. All students participating in activities sponsored by the school must meet certain standards. Specifically, that all students participating have a 2.0 GPA, and are good citizens. General fitness is important and experience is not necessary for this team, but helpful. Summer cheer camp provides valuable skills, routines and provides the bonding necessary for a successful squad and it is encouraged that all team members attend, but it is not mandatory. After making the team both parent and student guarantee attendance to all outside class time practices and performances by signing a contract. The contract also states that the cheerleader will abide by all school and cheer rules.

Practices are usually three (3) times a week and performances will consist of all Home and Away football and basketball games. Participation in rallies, fundraisers and community volunteer activities are required.

Participating in competitive athletics may result in injury. New rule changes, improved conditioning programs for athletes, and equipment improvements have reduced these risks. However, total elimination of risk in sports is impossible. Parents/guardians need to be aware and understand possible risks.
